Hairdressing Humiliation

Hairdressing Humiliation Posted by Picasa

You go to the hairdressers to make sure you look gorgeous, and what do they do?
They make you look so bad while you are there that it is humiliating! Then, just to make sure my depression level peaked, I drew this with my book on my lap and without lifting my chin when I looked up, and insuring I looked like Jaba the Hut! Oouch!

(Thank you Gael for giving me the courage to post this entry! xxx)

EDM Challenge #63 - Go on a nature walk, pick up items, draw what you find.

Skipping Stones. Posted by Picasa

I did this journal page today after a walk down to the creek behind our house. This is a page in my Moleskine which I had accidentally 'wreaked' by drawing on the next page with my new Sharpie Twin Tip. The ink not only went through the page, but also onto the next one. At the time I gessoed the page to cover it up and waited for a suitable 'loose' subject matter to appear. I drew with pencil, graphite and watercolour and went over again with more gesso and watercolour. Perhaps this is partly explains why I think the original is better than the scanned image - too many contrasting textures to reflect the scanning lamp(?).

EDM Challenge #61 'Group'

Goodyear 'Group' Posted by Picasa

My first EDM Challenge post! In a busy week I thought I'd manage to find something a bit 'different' for my 'group' at Goodyear while I waited for them to do my rego check. A stand of different tyres or tools or ... I didn't know. But nothing of note faced me when I entered the 'customer lounge' but this view/spectacle. I thought to myself 'well, it is actually a group...' and spent the time drawing. Waiting time is now wonderful time.

Speed - Illustration Friday

Fluid motion, charcoal and oil pastel on paper, 450mm x 500mm Posted by Picasa

I did this life drawing a little while ago and thought it would be good for this weeks Illustration Friday subject "Speed". The multiple image drawing of a dance implies both 'speed' and 'fluid motion' - it's title.

Annual Flu Injection

Annual flu injection...note to self...remember the side effects!!! Posted by Picasa

I drew this in the middle of the night last night when I couldn't sleep because the palm of my left hand was on fire and itching unbearably!

Spring - Illustration Friday

My very first drawing (done on time!) for Illustration Friday. The topic "Spring" doesn't really apply here in autumnal Australia, but I found I have been doing some spring cleaning lately anyway. Now all I have to do is figure out how to put the link on their website... Posted by Picasa

Turmeric flower

A flower on my turmeric for the first time. I love the pungent yellow flavour of it's root, but I was suprised by the delicate subtle intricacy of it's flower.
