'Perfume from Provence' - Rousillon

Rousillon! A small village atop a hill of ochre. The architecture reflects this and is alive with colour. If you want to be able to know just how many different shades, tones and colours ochre can be, you need to go there.

You need to go there anyway! It was my favourite place. It sucked me in, but unfortunately circumstances spat me out. Guess I'll just have to go back...

Your sketches of Paris (i recognized la gare de Lyon!) and Provence are gorgeous in their simplicity and variety.
I love seeing someone's point of view of France -- it makes me appreciate the country i left years ago!

I'm so glad you're uploading more pages. They are so gorgeous and inspirational. I've been taking photos as I progress in making my book, but I haven't had time to put them up yet.

May I ask what you've used to white out the blocks of text you don't want? I'm using a book that had lots of gorgeous line drawings, but then the other sides of the pages don't really mean much to me.

I just used gesso. I'm a bit of a gesso fan so it seemed a natural choice for me. I like the texture it gives and so I don't worry about my brushstrokes, in fact I make them purposefully messy because I like the effect.
Thanks for your comments.

I particularly like your mixed media work. These really make me take the family back to France for a trip!
