Skipping Stones.
I did this journal page today after a walk down to the creek behind our house. This is a page in my Moleskine which I had accidentally 'wreaked' by drawing on the next page with my new Sharpie Twin Tip. The ink not only went through the page, but also onto the next one. At the time I gessoed the page to cover it up and waited for a suitable 'loose' subject matter to appear. I drew with pencil, graphite and watercolour and went over again with more gesso and watercolour. Perhaps this is partly explains why I think the original is better than the scanned image - too many contrasting textures to reflect the scanning lamp(?).

This is beautiful, Jan. The stones 'sit' on the page very well. They have a great solid feel to them.
Sad you won't be in Sydney next week for our Rocks sketchcrawl.
Cheers,

Jan, that's a great piece! I love the layout and the drawing!
oh this is nice! love the effect on the gesso - and what a great way to rescue a moleskine page! the stones are beautifully done, too.
Even with the scan I can tell how three-dimensional those stones are. Wonderful use of a "wasted" page.
GORGEOUS!! LOVELY LOVELY LOVELY!!!
That is so very beautiful! I love the composition and the intensity of this page!
I lovr any page with this kind of feel. Absolutely delightful.
Very nice - I like the colors you used for the stone.
I think it turned out wonderful!
I love ROCKS, pebbles... anything that looks like stone. :) This is a wonderful entry. I really like the gessoed background.
This is gorgeous! So well done -- I can almost reach out and feel the texture of the stones!
I too have a creek behind my house - isn't it the MOST WONDERFUL thing! Your stones are wonderful and I like how you did the page layout with the text frame. Excellent.
I think you made a great save. I have done the same thing with Prismacolor acrylic markers. I'll have to try the gesso next time. The stones look great! The texture adds to the picture.
Wowee!! these stones are just stunning!!
